Obituary for Mary Jane Brennan Magner

Mary Jane Brennan Magner, 74, of 30 Cheever Road, Richmond, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 15, 2013, at the home of her daughter, Jacqueline B. Murphy. Born in Pittsfield on March 25, 1939, the daughter of Robert and Helen Smith Brennan, she was a 1956 graduate of Pittsfield High School and Berkshire Business College. Mrs. Magner was employed by the United States Postal Service for 23 years as a letter carrier in Richmond. She supported and was the bookkeeper for her husband's painting business. She had worked at Berkshire County Savings Bank at one time.
Jane was a communicant of St. Patrick Church in West Stockbridge. She found great satisfaction mentoring children at the Richmond Elementary School. Jane was a family person who always shared a smile and took great pride in family. No July 4th celebration was complete without her homemade stromboli. Known for making lifelong friends and throwing fabulous parties, she loved sharing a few laughs over a Manhattan or two. Jane always looked forward to going out for Saturday night dinners with her husband. A trip to Ireland with her husband, her brother Jack and his wife Carol, always held a special spot in her heart. She supported all family endeavors and was proud of her children and grandchildren's achievements. Jane enjoyed shopping trips with her daughter, spending holidays in New Jersey and was an avid fan of the Tri-City ValleyCats.
Jane was a devoted wife of 52 years to James Magner, whom she married July 15, 1961. Mrs. Magner is also survived by her daughter, Jacqueline B. Murphy and her husband, Rick, of Lanesborough; a son, Michael Magner and his wife, Andrea of Denville, New Jersey; three grandchildren, Kathleen, Michael, and Ashley; and a brother, Kevin Brennan of Pittsfield.
She was pre-deceased by her brothers, Bob Brennan and Jack Brennan.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to friends, family, hospice and the caregivers who provided special care during her short illness.
