Obituary for Mary M. Hayes

Mary M. Hayes, 75, of 42 Carson Avenue, Dalton, MA died Sunday at Craneville Place of Dalton where she had resided for the past few weeks. Born on January 7, 1940 in Coal Grove, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Clifford and Norrella McKean Hart. A longtime Dalton resident, she was educated in Ohio schools and was a 1958 graduate of Coal Grove High School where she played the trumpet in the school band. She married her husband, the late Pierce J. Hayes on April 2, 1968 in Pittsfield, MA. He died on December 13, 2007. Mrs. Hayes was primarily a homemaker where she enjoyed taking care of her family. She was a communicant of St. Agnes Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, traveling and spending summers at the family cottage on Pontoosuc Lake. She leaves two sons; John A. Jenkins and his wife Shelley of Dalton, MA and Shawn J. Hayes and his significant other Michelle Kellar-Creamer of Pittsfield.
A daughter; Jill Taylor and her significant other, Timothy Daury of Pittsfield, MA. She also leaves a daughter who she fostered; Kathy McGraw of Roanoke, Virginia. Three sisters; Karen Dickess and her husband Dennis of Ironton, Ohio, Margie Klegg and her husband Tom of Newburgh, NY and Rose Hensley of Coal Grove, Ohio. Two brothers; Earl Hart and his wife Esther of Franklin Furnace, Ohio and Merrill Frische of Sandusky, Ohio as well as her sister-in-law; Mary Hayes of Pittsfield, MA. Five grandchildren; Johnathan P. Jenkins, Samantha R. Jenkins Kehrer, Jaimie L. Taylor, Shawn J. Hayes Jr. and Bryanna L. Hayes. She was predeceased by three brothers; Cos Hart, Fred Frische and Gerald Frische as well as by three sisters; Joyce Hart, Joanne Stevens and Faye Butler. She will be greatly missed by her loving dog "Nicky".

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mary M. Hayes of Dalton, MA who died July 26, 2015 will be held Friday at 10:30 AM from the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in Dalton followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Agnes Church in Dalton concelebrated by the Rev. Christopher Malatesta, pastor and the Rev. John Salatino, pastor of St. Mark Church in Pittsfield. Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery in Dalton. Calling hours will be held Friday morning form 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM prior to the service. Memorial donations in memory of Mary may be made to the Denise Kaley Fund for Women with Cancer in care of the funeral home, 890 Main Street, Dalton, MA 01226.
