Obituary for Mary M. Brennan

Mary M. Brennan died peacefully at home on November 29, 2022 at the age of 95.

The daughter of Henry and Marguerite (Cullen) Miller, Mary was born on June 4, 1927. After graduating from Pittsfield High School in 1945, Mary was employed as a secretary at General Electric in Pittsfield.

Following their marriage in September of 1950, Mary and her husband, Donald J. Brennan, moved to Washington, D.C., where Don was attending Georgetown Law School. While in Washington, Mary continued working for G.E. in their Washington office. Following their return to Dalton after Don’s graduation, Mary became a homemaker.

She volunteered for many organizations, including the American Red Cross, St. Agnes Church, and the Dalton C.R.A.; but her most committed support was to a Native American cause, the Red Cloud Indian School, an organization she supported for decades where she served on the board of advisors.

Mary is survived by two sons, Atty. Paul F. Brennan (Holly Turner) of Windsor, and Atty. Mark T. (Joan) Brennan of Pittsfield; daughter, Mary M. Brennan of Washington, DC; six grandchildren, Matthew C. Brennan, Daniel C. Brennan, Mark T. Brennan, Jr., Atty. Katherine E. Brennan, Patrick E. Brennan, and Sarah J. Brennan; as well as six great grandchildren, Keira Brennan, James Brennan, Mark T. Brennan, III, Alyssa Brennan, Alexis Hogue, and Alena Brennan.

She is predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Donald J. Brennan, their son, James J. and his wife, Margaret B. Brennan and their son-in-law, James A. Caron.
