Obituary for Mary B. Bacon

MARY BURDETT BACON, 86, of 37 Ensign Street, Dalton, a resident of Dalton
since 1950, died Monday, January 11, surrounded by her family at Craneville Place of
Dalton. Born in Charlemont on August 3, 1923, a daughter of Alfred E. and Ellen J.
Hoxie Burdett, she was a 1940 graduate of Charlemont High School and attended the
University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Mary was a homemaker most of her life and enjoyed being a Cub Scout Den
Mother, Girl Scout Leader, and volunteering her time at St. Agnes School many years
ago. Mrs. Bacon was a communicant of St. Agnes Church. Her husband, Francis W. Bacon, Jr., whom she married October 21, 1950, at
St. Agnes Church, died March 9, 2000.
Mrs. Bacon leaves four sons, Richard F. Bacon and his wife, Louise, of
Weymouth, David W. Bacon and his wife, Linda, of Becket, Peter B. Bacon and his wife,
Linda, and James R. Bacon and his wife, Kathy, both of Dalton; two daughters, Margaret
E. Bacon of Dudley, and Patricia M. Destino and her husband, Frank, of Natick; a
brother, Bruce Burdett and his wife, Norma, of Merritt Island, Florida, and a sister, Janet
Flaherty of Wellesley. Another sister, Margaret (Peggy) Burdett Watt pre-deceased her
in 1955. Mary also leaves her grandchildren, William and Patrick Bacon of Becket,
Thomas and Matthew Bacon of Dalton, Bridget Bacon of Charleston, South Carolina,
Mary Destino of Natick, Jeffrey Bacon of Shrewsbury, and Laura Bacon of Washington,
D.C. The family wishes to thank the many dedicated and caring staff members of
Craneville Place of Dalton for their mother's care.


FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for MARY BURDETT BACON, who died Monday, January
11, will be Friday, January 15, at 10:15 a.m., from DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME,
with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., at St. Agnes Church, celebrated by
Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, Pastor. Burial will be in the Spring in Ashuelot
Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Bacon may be made to the Craneville
Place Activities Fund in care of the Funeral Home, 890 East Main Street, Dalton.
