Obituary for Mary Ann Buchinski

Mary Ann (Nannie) Buchinski, 86, of Velma Avenue, Pittsfield, died July 1, 2022. Born in Pittsfield on November 24, 1935, the daughter of Frank and Wanda Handrek Aptacy, she was a 1953 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

Mrs. Buchinski was a homemaker. She had at one time worked at Berkshire Bank in data entry.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church and had been a communicant of the former St. Teresa Church where she volunteered her time and taught C.C.D. She had also been a longtime volunteer for the St. Joseph’s Sharing Roots program.

Gardening and bird watching provided hundreds of hours of joy for Mary Ann. However, she always prioritized her ever growing family. She loved to knit sweaters, and crochet baby blankets, especially for her great grandchildren. Throughout her life, Mary Ann also kept close ties with many of her high school friends to chat and catch up on each other over lunch.

Mrs. Buchinski leaves her husband Adolph J. (“AJ”) Buchinski, whom she married April 16, 1955.

She is also survived by three sons, Barry (wife, Gwen) Buchinski of Bolton, MA; Brian (wife, Lisa) Buchinski of Pittsfield; and Bruce (wife, Doreen) Buchinski of Lexington, MA.

She also has six grandchildren and six great grandchildren: Alison (husband, Jon) Villa and their daughter Hazel; Benjamin (wife, Stephanie) Buchinski and their children, Gabriel and Piper; Jessica (husband, Mathew) Eddy and their children Hutchinson and Emilia; Dustin (wife, Asmara Qamar) Buchinski and their daughter, Marvi; Brad (wife, Pam) Buchinski and Mikaela Buchinski (fiancé, Robert Myers).
She was sadly predeceased by a grandson, Adam J. Buchinski.

Mary Ann’s family would like to thank the nurses from HospiceCare for their special care and compassion, especially in her final days.

FUNERAL NOTICE: At Mary Ann’s request, funeral services were private. Inurnment is in St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, both in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA
