Obituary for Mark L. Shaw
Mark L. Shaw, 68, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away on April 20, 2022
Mark was born on April 27, 1953 in Pittsfield, MA to his beloved parents Lawrence and Katherine Shaw. He grew up in Lanesboro, attended Lanesboro Elementary School and graduated from Mt. Greylock Regional High School in 1971. He earned a bachelors degree with honors in physical education from Norwich University in 1975.
He is survived by his son Joshua Shaw of Lanesboro, and his daughter Gabrielle Pignone of Indialantic, FL. He also leaves his grandchildren Aiden, Olivia, Ethan, Elijah, Lola and Milani, sisters Nancy Jacobs and her husband Ralph of Quincy, and Kim Ford and her husband Alan of Plymouth. He will also be missed by many other family members and friends.
Before moving to Florida in 1992, he worked at Eaton Paper Co. and East Side Cafe as a bartender. He continued working as a bartender in Florida as well as at Publix Market.
Mark was an outstanding multi-sport dedicated athlete in high school as well as in college where he was captain of both the football and baseball teams. He was an avid professional sports fan and possessed a wealth of knowledge on sports trivia. He also loved caddying and playing golf over the years. Mark spent 10 years coaching the Peewee Football League in Lanesboro nurturing and encouraging young kids to work hard to reach their potential in football.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 10:30 am at St. Joseph Cemetery in the St.
Francis Xavier section. The family will host a Gathering of Remembrance at Mazzeo’s Ristorante in Pittsfield at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers a donation in Mark’s memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in care of Dery Funeral Home 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield MA 01201.
