Obituary for Marjorie E. Putnam

Marjorie Eleanor Putnam, 90, a resident of Springside Nursing Care Center, passed away peacefully there on July 2, 2016. Born in Pittsfield on September 5, 1925, daughter of the late William and Alice Portor Putnam. She was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a June 1944 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Marjorie was employed as a receptionist and worked for many different companies over the course of her career, including, General Electric, Marion Fathers, Holden Stone Store and Harland B. Foster.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church and enjoyed gardening, reading, writing, especially short stories, many of which were published over the years.
Marjorie was predeceased by her four sisters; Alta, Esther, Charlotte and Elizabeth and her five brothers; William, Charles, Franklin, Winthrop and Donald.
She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Springside Nursing Care Center for their compassionate care of Marjorie, especially the staff of C-Wing.

FUNERAL NOTICE – Funeral Services for Marjorie Eleanor Putnam, 90, who died July 2, 2016, will be held FRIDAY JULY 8, 2016 at 8:15a.m. from the DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9a.m. at St. Joseph Church celebrated by the Rev. Monsignor Michael Shershanovich, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held THURSDAY from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
