Obituary for Marilyn J. Westover

MARILYN JANE WESTOVER, 79, of 1 Whittier Way, Ghent, New York, died
Monday, July 5, 2010, at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, New York, with her
daughters, Joanne and Kathie, by her side. Prior to moving to Ghent eight years ago, she
had resided in Lee and in Pittsfield for many years. Born in Salem, New Hampshire, on May 9, 1931, the daughter of Frank Allen and
Edna Whittier Allen Patterson, she was educated in Haverhill Schools.
Mrs. Westover was a homemaker.
During the early-1950s, she was employed by Howard Johnson's in Lenox. She
returned to the workforce in the 1980s, and was employed at Bradlees in Pittsfield and
later by Syntronics in Dalton.
She as a former member of Pilgrim Memorial Church in Pittsfield [Mass.].
Mrs. Westover enjoyed reading, doing word search puzzles, playing bingo and
cards, traveling, cooking, gardening, and ceramics. Her husband, Wilbur "Bill" Westover, whom she married October 7, 1950, in
Pownal, Vermont, died April 25, 1975.
Mrs. Westover is survived by three daughters, Joanne G. Sikora and her husband,
Matthew, of Ghent, New York, Kathleen E. Moser and her husband, Stephen, of
Pittsfield, Christine A. Schilling and her husband, Bruce, of Winterhaven, Florida; a son,
James D. Westover and his wife, Terri, of Johnstown, New York; a sister, Connie
Greenlaw and her husband, Harry, of Haverhill, and a brother, Paul J. Allen, also of
Haverhill, Massachusetts; as well as eight grandchildren, Jeffrey, Casie, Lindsey, Jillian,
Gregory, Chelsea, Kimberly, and Sandy, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by four brothers and two sisters.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for MARILYN JANE WESTOVER will be Friday, July 9, at
10:00 a.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Sigmund Sadzinski officiating.
Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers,
contributions in memory of Mrs. Westover may be made to Community Hospice in care
of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
