Obituary for Marilyn E. Skowron

MARILYN ELAINE SKOWRON, 77, of Pine Grove Manor, 293 High Street,Dalton, died Thursday, January 17, at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility where she had resided since December 29.
Born in Pittsfield, April 26, 1930, a daughter of Milton and Doris Philbrick
Sherman, she was a 1948 graduate of Pittsfield High School. A twenty-seven year employee of the Pittsfield Boys and Girls Club, Mrs.
Skowron began her career there in 1978 as an Assistant Secretary, and then became
Executive Secretary serving under Executive Directors, James J. Mooney, Craig R.
Crosier, and Peter E. Bell. She assisted with the Big Brothers-Big Sisters program when
it was a part of the Boys Club.
Mrs. Skowron was also a long-time volunteer at the Club, where she was a member of the former BC Backers, a group of mothers who got involved in programs, and had helped with bingo. She was named the first female member of the Boys and
Girls Alumni Association. She was a member of Immanuel Community Church in Pittsfield where she served as Church Clerk and a member of the Ladies Guild.Her husband, John A. Skowron, Jr., whom she married June 20, 1952, died
April 22, 1975. Mrs. Skowron is survived by two sons, Keith E. Skowron of Miami, Florida,
and Jeffrey J. Skowron of Northampton; a daughter, Terri Trufant of Hinsdale; a brother,
Milton S. Gasson of Pittsfield; a sister, Ruth P. Kelly of Hinsdale; nine grandchildren and
three great grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for MARILYN E. SKOWRON, lovingly known by friends and
family as Tete, who died Thursday, January 17, will be Monday, January 21, at 10:00
a.m., at Immanuel Community Church (corner of Melbourne Road and Chapel Street,
Pittsfield) with Rev. John T. Cunningham, Pastor, officiating. Calling hours will be
Sunday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of
flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Skowron may be made to Pittsfield Boys and
Girls Club Scholarship Fund in care of the Funeral Home, 890 East Main Street, Dalton.
Mrs. Skowron also leaves her nieces, Kathy King, Robin Anastasio, Kris Haley,
and Shelle Pidcoe.
