Obituary for Marilyn Lea Hamilton

Marilyn Lea Hamilton of 15 Prospect St. died Wednesday, February 13, at Albany Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on April 18, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Randolph Hamilton, Sr. and Shirley Nolan Hamilton. Marilyn attended Pittsfield schools and graduated from Berkshire Community College. She was a social worker for the Department of Social Services where she worked for 23 years before retiring. She was a member of the Beulah Chapter NO. 14 OES (Order of the Eastern Star).
Ms. Hamilton was predeceased by her son, Damion Dana Hamilton, who passed away in 1986.
She leaves a daughter, Sherine Hamilton of Pittsfield, and a stepson. She also leaves four grandchildren: Deontae Hamilton, Kemetree Hamilton, Detric Hamilton of Pittsfield and Nia Hosley of New York. She also leaves two godsons, Winton Brown and Kevin Dereda. Marilyn also leaves four brothers, Randolph Hamilton and Roger Hamilton of Pittsfield, Robert Hamilton of California, and Rodney Hamilton of Springfield, Missouri; two sisters, Cheryl Nolan and Wendy Hamilton of Pittsfield; and a sister-in-law: Sandy Hamilton of California. She leaves two aunts, Ann Gadson and Beverly Edmonds of Pittsfield; 16 nieces and nephews and a host of great nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Marilyn was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Besides spending time with family, she enjoyed cooking, shopping and gardening.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Marilyn Lea Hamilton will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 11:00 AM, at Second Congregational Church 50 Onota St., Pittsfield with Rev. Leonard C. Comithier, a former pastor of Second Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, at the Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ms. Hamilton may be made to The Pittsfield Boys and Girls Club in care of the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
