Obituary for Mariette T. Cyr

MARIETTE T. CYR, 84, of Epoch at Melbourne, died Wednesday afternoon at her home.
Born in St. Come, Province of Quebec, Canada, on December 14, 1921, a daughter of Edmond J. and Imelda G. LaChance Aubin, she was educated in Maine schools, and was a 1938 graduate of Sacred Heart High School in VanBuren, Maine, and
a 1943 graduate of St. Mary's General Hospital School of Nursing in Lewiston, Maine.
A registered nurse for 30 years, Mrs. Cyr had been employed at the former
Hillcrest Hospital, St. Luke's Hospital, and Pittsfield General Hospital, all of which
have since merged to form Berkshire Medical Center. She had also been a private duty
nurse. She retired in 1973.
She was a communicant of the former Notre Dame Church and a member of the
former Franco-American Club. She was an accomplished musician who enjoyed playing
the piano and organ. She enjoyed writing and wrote for The Sunday Sampler, a former
publication of The Berkshire Eagle. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Her
greatest love was her home, her children, and her grandchildren. Her husband, Philip L. Carr, whom she married May 2, 1946, at Notre Dame
Church, died August 31, 1988.
Mrs. Cyr is survived by a son, Michael P. Cyr of Dalton; four daughters, Jeanne
C. Trinque of West Springfield, Therese M. Michaud of Windsor, Beatrice L. Cowlin of
Pittsfield, and Christine A. Lichtel of Pittsfield; a stepbrother, Gerald Daigle of
Chicopee; eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.


FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for MARIETTE T. CYR, who died Wednesday, July 26, will be Saturday, July 29, at 9:15 a.m., from DERY FUNERAL HOME, followed by a
Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church,with burial to be in
St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours are today, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the
funeral home. mrs. Cyr also leaves her eleven beloved grandchildren, Rebecca A. McGinnis, Tracy L. Hart, Scott T. Cowlin, Nicole T. Casey,
Denise M. Rivers, Martin D. Lichtel, Amanda J. Lichtel, Matthew M. Cyr, Katie H.
Cyr, Christopher J. Cyr, and Joel P. Cyr, and her six great grandchildren, Haley E.
Cowlin, Lauren A. Cowlin, Brooke E. Cowlin, Lindsey A. McGinnis, Zachary C.
Hart, and Owen N. Rivers. She was pre-deceased by seven brothers and sisters.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Cyr may be made
to HospiceCare in The Berkshires or to Elder Services of Berkshire County in care of
the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
