Obituary for Marie Rita Kucka

Marie Rita Kucka, 96, formerly of 638 Crane Avenue, Pittsfield, passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, March,29 at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Cheshire on July 13, 1917, the daughter of Pietro and Rosina Pasini Massacani, she attended schools in Adams.
A mill worker by trade, Mrs. Kucka's first job was making shirts for the W.P.A.. From there, she went to work for the Berkshire Fine Spinning Mill in Adams. She later came to Pittsfield where she worked in the Elmvale Worsted Mill, the Wyandott Worsted Mill, and then the A.H. Rice Silk Mill from where she retired.
She had also been the Assistant Librarian at the Cheshire Public Library.
Mrs. Kucka was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire where she taught C.C.D. and sang in the choir. She had been a communicant of the former St. Mary the Morning
Star Church in Pittsfield.
She loved times spent with her grandchildren,great grandchildren, great great grandchild.
Her husband, Charles(Cazz) Kucka, whom she married November 8, 1941, in St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire, died March 29, 1980.
Mrs. Kucka is survived by two daughters, Rosemarie Dunham of Windsor and Beverly Russell
of Pittsfield; a brother, Charles Massaconi of Cheshire; three sisters, Rose Graziani of Cheshire, Rita
Sinopoli of Pittsfield, and Edna Gregory of Cheshire; eight grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren,
and one great great grandchild.
She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Sharleen Kotski; son in laws; Stephen Kotski, Ronald (Butch) Russell, a sister; Emma Massacani, and three
brothers,John Massacani (at birth), Peter Massacani and Michael Massaconi.
She was, and in our hearts, will remain the matriarch of our family. She was feisty and funny and loved telling stories of her life growing up in Cheshire. Her most enjoyed job was making shirts for the soldiers at the WPA and as she would say, "They were good ones."
She was an avid Yankee Fan and loved to Polka. She was our" Nana".



FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for Marie Rita Kucka will be Thursday, April 3, at 9:00 from DERY FUNERAL
HOME In PITTSFIELD with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at St. Mary of the Assumption
Church in Cheshire celebrated by Rev. David R. Raymond, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's
Cemetery in Pittsfield.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME in
PITTSFIELD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Church
in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
