Obituary for Margery Ethel "Midge" Hunter

Margery “Midge” Ethel Hunter, 77 of Pittsfield, passed away January 1st at Albany Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield, MA on November 1, 1943, she was the daughter of the late William M. and Frances M. Lambert Hunter, she was a 1961 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

Ms. Hunter enjoyed a 33-year career with New England Telephone (NYNEX, Bell Atlantic, Verizon), working as a Line Assigner, Install and Repair Dispatcher and ending her career as a Directory Assistance Operator. Midge also enjoyed second careers as an Adoption Counselor with Berkshire Humane Society and as a Volunteer Supervisor at Tanglewood.

She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church, who enjoyed reading and adored animals, especially cats. Midge was a soft-spoken, true lady who was loved dearly by all and returned that love exponentially.

She was predeceased by a sister, Barbara H. Hunter, who died in 2000 and a brother, William B. Hunter, who died in 1979. She leaves behind her nieces, Paula J. LaLonde of Hinsdale and Rebecca L. Hunter of Pittsfield; nephews, Shane M. Hunter of Charlemont, Paul W. Hunter of North Andover and Donald R. Tinney, Jr., of North Adams; sisters-in-law, Bruna A. Tinney and Mary M. Hunter of Pittsfield and brother-in-law Donald R. Tinney of Pittsfield. As well as several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
