Obituary for Margaret D. Lancto

Margaret D. Lancto, 98, of 183 Yvonne Drive, Dalton died Tuesday at home. Born on December 21, 1909 in Glasgow, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret McEwen Dougan. A former resident of Williamstown, she was the wife of the late Silas Lancto. At the age of 18 she crossed the Atlantic for the last time and in April 1977 she became a US Citizen. "Peggy" as she was fondly called dearly loved her family and friends. She loved her Scottish heritage, and she was proud to be an American and Williamstown always had a special place in her heart. She leaves a daughter; Susan L. Denzel and her husband Paul of Dalton. Her daughter-in-law; Beatrice Lancto a son-in-law; Ernest J. Dube`. She also leaves five grandchildren; Gregory J. Lancto, Lisa Ann McLain, E. Jay Dube`, David K. Dube` and Heather M. Rieger. Eight great grandchildren; Stephanie & Freddy Lancto, Taryn & Lauren Dube`, Jenna McLain, Evan & Kyle Dube` and Amber Rieger. Two great great grandchildren; Aviana and Cameron Lancto. Mrs. Lancto was predeceased by a son; the late J. Frederick Lancto and by two daughters; the late Jean Lancto Dube` and the late Margaret R. Lancto. Mrs. Lancto's family would like to offer their special thanks to all of her care-givers throughout the years, from when she lived in Williamstown to when she moved to Dalton.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Margaret D. Lancto who died September 9, 2008 will be held Saturday at 9:30 AM at the Sherman Burbank Memorial Chapel at the East Lawn Cemetery in Williamstown conducted by the Rev. William Baughan. Burial will follow the service in East Lawn Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations in memory of Mrs. Lancto may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires in care of the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 Main St. Dalton, MA which is in charge of arrangements.
