Obituary for Madeline K. Choiniere

MADELINE K. CHOINIERE, 86, of 14 Dodge Avenue, Pittsfield, died
Thursday, April 1, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Born in Pittsfield, November 28, 1923, the daughter of J. Edward and Julia
Mazzer Keegan, she was a 1940 graduate of Pittsfield High School and a graduate of the
Former Pittsfield Secretarial School.
A World War II veteran, she enlisted with the United States Navy on March 8,
1944, served as a WAVE, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Yeoman
Second Class on July 26, 1946.
Mrs. Choiniere was a homemaker. Prior to her military service, she had worked
for American Optical Company.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church where she was a member of
the Rosary Sodality and was involved in many Church activities.
She assisted the Registrar of Voters office with the census for many years.
Mrs. Choiniere was a 50-gallon blood donor at the American Red Cross.
She enjoyed traveling, sewing, baking, and being with her grandchildren.
Her husband, Robert A. Choiniere, whom she married November 28, 1946, in
St. Mark Church, died October 2, 2005.
Mrs. Choiniere is survived by four sons, Gary L. Choiniere and his wife, Kate, of
Pittsfield, Robert E. Choiniere and his wife, Dianne, of North Port, Florida, Thomas
Choiniere and his wife, Heidi, of Falcon, Missouri, and Paul Choiniere and his wife,
Cherie of Livermore, California; two daughters, Ann Porter and her husband, Jay, of
Pittsfield, and Jean M. McMahon and her husband, Larry, of Lee; thirteen grandchildren
and thirteen great grandchildren.
She was pre-deceased by her brother, John "Skip" Keegan.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for MADELINE K. CHOINIERE will be Tuesday, April 6, at
10:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00
a.m., at Sacred Heart Church, celebrated by Rev. James K. Joyce, Pastor. Burial will
follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.,
at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Choiniere may
be made to Sacred Heart Church in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street,
Pittsfield.
