Obituary for M. Theresa Talarico

M. THERESA RANTI TALARICO, known to everyone as "Theresa" or "Aunt Theresa", 91, of Melbourne Place, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 24, at Providence Care Center of Lenox where she had resided for a short time.
Born in Pittsfield on October 25, 1917, daughter of Santo and Mary Macri Ranti
Theresa attended local schools and was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. She became
a Licensed Practical Nurse, and worked as a secretary for the Red Cross and for the
Retarded Children's Association.
She was the widow of John Talarico who died in World War II. She was also pre-deceased by her son, John, who passed away in 2000. She was known as the family matriarch.
Theresa was a very independent person. She always tried to be one step ahead of
everyone else. In her younger years, she was always there to lend a helping hand donating her time and help whenever needed.
Theresa was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for
over fifty years and most recently of St. Joseph Church. A long-standing member of the
Mount Carmel Ladies Guild and Rosary Society, she was an active volunteer at the Mount Carmel Bazaar for more than a decade.
She was a member of the Association of Marion Helpers, Girl Scouts of America,
Pittsfield Girls Club, YMCA, and her most-favorite, the Ralph J. Froio Senior Center where she belonged to many of their functions and donated many hours of love.
She was an avid bridge player. She was a fantastic bowler wining many trophies.
She leaves her nieces and nephews and her caregiver, Richard J. Ranti.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for M. THERESA RANTI TALARICO, who died Tuesday,
February 24, will be Saturday, February 28, at 8:00 a.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME,
with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m., at St. Joseph Church celebrated by Rev.
Msgr. Michael A. Shershanovich, Pastor. Burial will follow in the family plot in St.
Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Theresa's memory may be made to HospiceCare in The Berkshires in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
