Obituary for Lura Elsie Chilson

Lura Elsie Chilson, 97, of 320 Pittsfield Road, Lenox, died Friday November 6, 2015 at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield, the daughter of the late Egbert and Lura I. (Albee) Clark, she was educated in Dalton schools and was a 1935 graduate of Dalton High School. She went on to attend Berkshire Business College. Mrs. Chilson was employed at Crane & Company beginning in 1935 as a Spare Girl in the Rag Room until her retirement in 1956. Upon her retirement she continued as a homemaker.
Mrs. Chilson while legally blind; was an avid bowler and Boston Red Sox fan. She was a seventy year member of First Congregational Church in Dalton, where she sang in the choir for twenty-five years. She was also the Past Master of the Flinstone Grange #353 of Dalton, MA from 1958 to 1959.
Mrs. Chilson is survived by her son; Duane C. Buckley of Reseda CA., also a "Daughter in all the ways that really mattered;" Cheri Najimy. She also leaves many much-loved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters; Martha Buckley and Dora Rogers.
On April 20, 2012, Mrs. Chilson was named an honorary member of the Berkshire Benevolent Association for the Blind for her many years of devotion and participation

Funeral Notice:
Calling hours for Lura Elsie Chilson, 97, who died Friday November 6th, will be held at the Dery-Foley Funeral Home, in Dalton, on Thursday November 12th from 3 to 5p.m. The funeral service celebrated by Rev. Quentin Chin will begin at 5p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations in Lura's memory can be made to the Dalton Ambulance & Rescue or the First Congregational Church of Dalton, in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.
