Obituary for Lucien E. Solak

LUCIEN ERNEST SOLAK, 77, of 41 Beaumont Drive, Pittsfield, died Thursday morning at Hillcrest Commons where he had resided since April 17. Born in Pittsfield, September 24, 1928, a son of Joseph and Pauline Laveecka Solak, he was a graduate of Pittsfield High School and graduated from the General Electric Company Apprentice
Draftsman Program. A Korean War veteran, he served in the United States Army from January 1952 to March 1953. Mr. Solak was employed by General Electric Company for 43 years where he was a senior designer. He was a member of South Congregational Church. He was also a member of the General Electric Quarter Century and Pensioners Clubs, and was a member of the
American Legion. His wife, the former Barbara Ann Breen, whom he married June 23, 1951, died
November 7, 2005. Mr. Solak is survived by two sons, Mark P. Solak of North Adams and Brett L.
Solak of Pittsfield; two daughters, Pamela J. Desautels of Pittsfield and Marcia L.Darrin
of Cary, North Carolina; a brother, Joseph Solak of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; three sisters,
Wanda Solak of Pittsfield, Edna Zdanis of Pittsfield, and Lillian Hobson of San Jose,
California; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.


FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for LUCIEN ERNEST SOLAK, who died Thursday, July 6,
will be Saturday, July 8, at 10:00 a.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME, with Rev. Joel Huntington, Pastor of South Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Solak may be made to HospiceCare in The Berkshires or to the American Heart Association in care of the
Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
Mr. Solak leaves his nine grandchildren, Michael, Heather, Scott, Holly, Darren,Brittany, Annah, David, and Olivia, and his two great grandchildren, Matthew and Connor.
