Obituary for Louise M. Downes

LOUISE M. DOWNES, 82, formerly of Sunnyside Drive, Dalton, and a resident
of Dalton since 1968, died Monday, March 9, at Curtis Manor in Dalton where she had resided for the past year. Born in Pittsfield, January 10, 1927, the daughter of the late Philip and Margaret E. Ehrler Downes, she was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1945 graduate of St. Joseph Central High School.
Miss Downes was employed as a secretary for Crane & Co., in Dalton, for 40 years. She spent the last five years of her career in the Stationery Division from where
she retired on February 17, 1982.
She was a communicant of St. Agnes Church.
She enjoyed her camp at Cheshire Lake and taking day trips. She also enjoyed painting, gardening, bowling, and golfing. She loved dogs and cats. Miss Downes is survived by several cousins. She also leaves her long-time friends, James E. Sherman of Dalton, and Kathy and Andy Hoag of Dalton. Louise was forever grateful to all of the kind staff at Curtis Manor for their care, kindness, and compassion.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for LOUISE M. DOWNES, who died Monday, March 9, will be
Thursday, March 12, at 9:15 a.m., from DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, with a
Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at St. Agnes Church, celebrated by Rev.
Christopher A. Malatesta, Pastor. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. There are no
calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Miss Downes may be made to HospiceCare in The Berkshires in care of the Dery-Foley Funeral Home, 890 East Main Street,
Dalton.
