Obituary for Louise F. Cianflone

Louise F. Cianflone, 89, of Kimball Farms, Lenox, passed away suddenly on September 17, 2022. Born on January 5, 1933, she was the daughter of Louis and Elna Reis Forrest.

Louise was predeceased by her husband Ralph, the love of her life to whom she was married for over 60 years. Throughout their fairytale marriage Louise and Ralph traveled the world and surrounded themselves with family, friends, love and laughter.

The simplest pleasures in life brought Louise great joy. She had an extraordinary ability to find beauty and light in the world around her. She had an ever-optimistic spirit with an endless quest for knowledge. Guided by strong faith and spirituality, she possessed a magical ability to make everyone she met feel loved and appreciated. With her bright blue eyes, graceful “sequin” style, and contagious smile, she lifted spirits wherever she went.

Louise (known to many as Manny) loved her family home of 50 years on Churchill Street in Pittsfield, where she cherished time in her extensive gardens, feeding the birds, walking in the woods and “monarch meadow” fields, and raising countless animals. Ever active and always up for an adventure, she loved building sandcastles with her grandchildren on the Cape, swimming in the ocean, kayaking, cooking family meals with her children, grandchildren and friends, reading books, practicing yoga, and playing the piano.

A graduate of Hingham High School and Westfield State University, Louise was a teacher for the Cities of Pittsfield and Weymouth, MA. She was a master gardener, reiki master, member of the Springside Greenhouse Group, and long-time member of South Congregational Church. She sang with her clear soprano voice in local choirs, including South Congregational, Berkshire Lyric Theater, and Stockbridge Festival Chorus.

She leaves behind six children (and spouses), Linnea Rufo, David Cianflone (Mary), Deborah Cox (Brian), Pamela Rich (Tom), Ralph Cianflone (Lorelei), and Jenny Benson. Eleven grandchildren, Jordan Keay (Nate), Hunter Skowron (Chloe), Owen, Averie, and Cameron Cox, Harry, Jackson, and Gabe Rich, Aurora and Henry Benson and Stella Cianflone, and 2 great grandchildren, Harper and Asher. She is also predeceased by her beloved sister, Sonia Tynan.

A service will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 11AM, South Congregational Church, Pittsfield, MA. There will be a reception for family and friends immediately following at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the South Community Food Pantry in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
