Obituary for Louis "Manny" Lombardi

Louis P. (Manny) Lombardi of Spring Hill, FL and Pittsfield, Massachusetts died suddenly January 22, 2016 while wintering in Florida. Lou was born October 25, 1943, to Louis and Catherine Pulano Lombardi of Third Street, Pittsfield. He served in the 338th Engineer Battalion Army Reserve for six years and was employed by General Electric for 37 years before retiring.
Born with a great musical ear, he could hear a song then recreate it flawlessly on the piano/organ. Lou first played in the Fabulous Hi Fi's before starting the Lou Lombardi Trio which played for many years throughout Berkshire County at weddings and venues including the Green Acres Fireside Restaurant in Cheshire, the Coachlight Restaurant in Pittsfield and "in the stalls" at Eastover in Lenox. Lou loved sharing his music at local nursing homes, playing Christmas music for the residents during the holiday season.
A passionate Red Sox fan, Lou attended many games and stayed true to the team even throughout their "less than stellar" seasons. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and would often go on excursions throughout the Northeast with his wife Sherrill and his friends. When not exploring the countryside, Lou and Sherrill loved entertaining friends with games of cards and dominoes. He was always up for a game of horseshoes or darts and really enjoyed spending time with his sister-in-law Sarah, her husband Keith and the entire extended Murray family. Lou always enjoyed treating his family and friends to many concerts and ballgames over the years and will be remembered for his sense of humor, his really bad jokes and his "punny" t-shirts.
Lou attended and participated in local City Council and other local government meetings and was a volunteer for Big Brothers, Elder Services and the Pittsfield 4th of July Parade Committee. He supported the American Red Cross and throughout his life he donated over ten gallons of blood resulting in 240 lives saved.
Lou is survived by his children, Jim Graves (Sarah) of Monterey, LA, Denise Kelly (Shaun) of Edgewater, FL, and Cindy Rodgers (Joe) of Pittsfield. He also leaves six grandchildren Trey Smith (Stacy), Shaun Kelly (Krystal), Richard Kelly (Anne), Matthew Tenneson (Kim), Danielle Tenneson and Jeremy Tenneson (Rebecca) in addition to ten great grandchildren Parker, Cooper, Trisha, Bailey, Jake, Drew, Noah, Brandon, CeCeilia and Blaze. He also leaves behind sister-in-law Sarah Murray, nieces and nephews Margaret, Rick, Joe, Cheryl, Danita and Suzanne as well as his best friend of sixty years Pete Fruet and his cherished companion Challes Hanson with whom he enjoyed attending concerts, searching out flea markets and discovering new restaurants in Florida and Massachusetts.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his devoted wife of thirty years Sherrill A. Lombardi and brother-in-law W. Keith Murray.
