Obituary for Lorraine F. Leahy

Lorraine Frances Leahy, 85, of 27 View Street, Dalton, died Thursday, January 15, 2015, at her home.
Born in Pittsfield on December 22, 1929, the daughter of Thomas and Harriet Card
Hanford, she was a 1947 graduate of Pittsfield High School and then graduated in 1950 from the Springfield Hospital School of Nursing.
Mrs. Leahy was a Registered Nurse at Berkshire Medical Center and at Hillcrest Hospital. She retired in 2002. She had also been a nurse at Tanglewood for more than 25 years.
She was a communicant of St. Agnes Church where she was a member of the Rosary
Society and was active in fundraising. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and volunteered her time at the Colonial Theatre, as well.
Mrs. Leahy leaves her husband, John J. Leahy, whom she married November 22, 1951, in
St. Joseph Church.
Mrs. Leahy is also survived by a son, Michael B. Leahy and his wife, Laurie, of Alameda, Calif.; three daughters, Linda Leahy of Southborough, Mass., Donna Bercury of Pittsfield, Barbara
Leahy, of Alameda, Calif.; a brother, Thomas Hanford of Senoia, Ga.; two stepbrothers, James
Hanford of Florida and Chester Hanford of Virginia; a stepsister, Sandra Philipps and her husband, Fred, of Virginia; three grandchildren, Daniel Reddy, Jonathan Nguyen, and Stephanie
Nguyen, and two great grandchildren, Cecelia Navarro and Dani Reddy.
She was pre-deceased by a son-in-law, Ned Bercury.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for Lorraine Frances Leahy will be held Tuesday, January 20, at 9:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME in PITTSFIELD with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at St. Agnes Church in Dalton celebrated by Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, Pastor. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Lenox.
Calling hours will be held Monday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME in
PITTSFIELD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare in The Berkshires in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
