Obituary for Lois J. Porter

LOIS JEAN PORTER, 74, formerly of BerkshireTown Apartments, died Monday evening at Hillcrest Commons where she had resided since 2005.
Born in Stephentown, New York, October 30, 1932, she was a daughter of Charles and Louella M. Smith Wendling, and the stepdaughter of Evelyn Wendling of Dalton, she was educated in Stephentown, New York, schools.
Mrs. Porter was a homemaker. At one time, she had been employed by A.H. Rice Silk Mill and the former Edgewood Motel.
She enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling, and animals. She was pre-deceased by her former husband, George H. Porter.
Besides her stepmother, Mrs. Porter is survived by two sons, Michael W. Porter
of Pittsfield and Charles A. Porter of Dalton; three daughters, Sharon L. Nolan of
Pittsfield, Karen E. Forfa of Pittsfield; and Brenda J. Brown of Pittsfield; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; three stepbrothers, Gerald Wendling of Dalton,
Charles Wendling of Windsor, and Robert Wendling of Pittsfield; five step sisters,
Doreen Daly of Pittsfield, Nancy Tripp of Pittsfield; Sandra Behne of Pittsfield; Judy
Morrisey of Magnolia, California, and Debra Beekman of Scotsdale,
Arizona. She was pre-deceased by a grandson, Dana Porter.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for LOIS JEAN PORTER, who died Monday, March 19, will
be Thursday, March 22, at 7:00 p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME, with Rev. William
D. Furey, Pastor of Berkshire Union Chapel, officiating. Burial will be at a later date at
the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be Thursday, from 5:00 until 7:00. In
lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Porter may be made to the Berkshire
Humane Society in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
Mrs. Porter was pre-deceased by a stepbrother, Clement Gage.
