Obituary for Linda Rae Smith
Linda Rae Smith, 77, of Hinsdale, MA, passed away December 26, 2021 at Berkshire Medical Center.
She was born in Westbrook, Maine on February 4, 1944 to Lyndon and Grace Brunk Brooks.
She was a registered nurse, having worked at Hillcrest Hospital and Berkshire Medical Center before retiring in 2010.
Linda is survived by her children, Conan D. (Doreen) Levernoch of Hinsdale, Cozeen D. (Don) Mayotte of Cheshire, Cathie D. (Mark) Marrandino of Hamden, CT, Kevin D. (Lynee) Levernoch of Pittsfield, and Keith D. (Christine) Levernoch of Hinsdale. She leaves behind four brothers: Barry (Faith) Brooks of FL, Craig (Heather) Brooks of Peru, MA, Richard (Jody) Brooks of FL, and Mark Brooks of FL. as well as four sisters: Janet Bennett of Peru, MA, and Janice (Henry) Foley of Pittsfield, Deborah Sedgewick of Pittsfield, and Jessica (David) Swail of Hinsdale. She also leaves 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Linda was predeceased by her husbands, David R. Levernoch and Randal C. Smith.
Linda was the matriarch of her family dispensing medical advice, hosting parties and making new memories. When not at home Linda could often be found at The First Congregational Church doing Bible study, arranging flowers or otherwise serving her community as well as carrying on the traditions of the Grange.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will be held in the Spring of 2022 with burial in Maple Street Cemetery in Hinsdale. Dery Funeral Home 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, is handling the arrangements. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of Hinsdale or The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
