Obituary for Lillian Gaulden

LILLIAN GAULDEN, 86, formerly of 158 Daniels Avenue, Pittsfield, died
Tuesday morning at Hillcrest Commons where she had resided since 2003.
Born August 10, 1921, in South Boston, Virginia, she was educated in Virginia schools and attended Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Alabama.
She and her late husband owned and operated Gaulden's Upholstering on
Tyler Street in Pittsfield. Following his death, Mrs. Gaulden continued in the business
until closing and retiring in 1993 after 50 years
She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was also a member of the
American Legion Auxiliary and had served as a past president. She volunteered at
Tanglewood. She enjoyed antiques, music, and gardening.
Her husband, Charles S. Gaulden, whom she married in 1949, died January
8, 1956.Mrs. Gaulden is survived by a son, Fred S. Chambers of Boothbay, Maine, and
a sister, Odell Chambers of Washington, D.C.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for LILLIAN GAULDEN, who died October 9, 2007, will be
held Friday, October 2, at 11:30 a.m., at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Robert M.
Rennie, Senior Minister, officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Wildwood
Cemetery in Amherst, Massachusetts. Calling hours will be Thursday, from 7:00 to 9:00
p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs.
Gaulden may be made to First Baptist Church or to HospiceCare in The Berkshires, both
in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.Mrs. Gaulden is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Marcia Chambers.
