Obituary for Leonard E. Giroux

Leonard Ernest Giroux, 87, of 31 Rhode Island Avenue, Pittsfield, died Friday, March 3, 2017, at Springside Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Care Center. Born in Adams on March 14, 1929, the son of Ernest and Lena Jarvis Giroux, he was a 1947 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
He served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was employed by General Electric for 38 years, including the Naval Ordinance Division where he worked as a Design Specialist until retiring in 1988. He was a communicant of St. Charles Church and previously an active member of Notre Dame Church in Pittsfield and the Carmelite Community in Williamstown. His hobbies included woodworking and photography.
Mr. Giroux is survived by his wife, the former Norma Elliman Breault, whom he married October 6, 2001. He was predeceased by his first wife of 43 years, the former Lorraine Picard, who died in 1996 and his infant son, Bruce Paul Giroux who died in 1953.
He is survived by his five daughters: Denise King and husband, David of Pittsfield, Darlene Salacup and husband Manual of Salinas, California, Therese Giroux of Marina, California, Monique Franz and husband Paul of Fontana, California, and Giselle Giroux and husband Daniel Naughton of Omaha, Nebraska; two stepsons: Michael Breault and life partner Ann of Norfolk, Virginia and Joseph Breault and his wife Holly of Pittsfield; as well as grandchildren, Brianna King, Anna & Bradley Leach and step grandchildren, Eric, Rachael and Bridget Breault. He's also survived by three brothers: Bernard Giroux, Allen Giroux and Regis Giroux all of Florida and three nieces.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for Leonard E. Giroux will be held Monday, March 13, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at St. Charles Church celebrated by Rev. Peter A. Gregory, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Charles Church in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
