Obituary for Leland "Lee" Kie

Leland "Lee" Kie, born in Pittsfield, MA on July 30, 1931, passed away February 5, 2023 after a twenty year battle with Leukemia.

Lee was a Korean War Navy Veteran having served honorably for four years on the USS Turner DDR834 destroyer.

He worked in his early years at General Electric and later years at the Big Y. He was active in the VFW Post 448 Pittsfield and earned the prestigious "Volunteer of the Year Award", and served twice as their commander.

He was predeceased by his mother, Dorathea Kie; his brother, Milton Kie; and former wife, Barbara Kie, as well as brothers-in-law, Frank Speth, Dick Barnes, and Jim Vinette.

He leaves siblings, Dottie Speth, Peggy Barnes, Winthrop Kie Sr., Rosalie Brunet (Norman), Shirley Langenback and Irene Vinette. He also leaves his two daughters, Pam Kie-Viner (George), Kim Kie-Manion (Jeffrey), three grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, along with good friend Dick Bluett.

There will be no services. Donations may be made to the Leukemia foundation or to the VFW Post 448 in Pittsfield, MA, in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
