Obituary for Lawrence A. Grizey
Lawrence August Grizey, Jr., 91, of 8 Allengate Avenue, Pittsfield, died Thursday, December 29, 2016, at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Sacramento, California, on April 14, 1925, the son of Lawrence A. Grizey, Sr. and
Mary Chaiffre Grizey, he was a graduate of Pittsfield High School and Berkshire Community
College.
He had served with the United States Navy and with the United States Marine Corps.
Mr. Grizey was employed by the City of Pittsfield as Personnel Director, Tax Collector, and Finance Director. Before coming to Pittsfield, he was the Finance Director for the City of Leominster. At one time, he and his brother-in-law owned Marino & Grizey Blacktopping.
Mr. Grizey was a long-time member of the Masons.
He enjoyed fishing of all kinds.
His former wife, Ann Marino Grizey, died June 29, 1996.
Mr. Grizey is survived by his daughter, Denise Grizey Whiteman of Hinsdale; his long-time companion, Jacqueline M. Sacchetti of Pittsfield; a brother, Thomas G. Grizey of Richmond; two grandsons, Nicholas J. Grizey and Christopher I. Grizey; two granddaughters, Alisha Paudel and Patricia Grizey; and a great granddaughter, Ileana Whiteman.
He was pre-deceased by two sons, Larry Allen Grizey who died October 12, 1997, and
Scott David Grizey who died November 3, 2016, and a granddaughter, Vanessa Whiteman who
died June 29, 1995.
FUNERAL NOTICE:
There are no services or calling hours planned. The DERY FUNERAL HOME is in charge of
arrangements.
