Obituary for Laurie R. Maffuccio

Laurie Robin Maffuccio, 55, of 256 Robbins Avenue, Pittsfield, MA, passed away April 22, 2022 at Berkshire Medical Center due to complications of Scleroderma, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Circulatory Issues.

Born in Pittsfield on June 22, 1966, she was the youngest daughter of Robert and Shirley Zopf Fischer.

She was a 1984 graduate of Taconic High School and attended McCann Tech.

Primarily a homemaker, Laurie had worked as a medical assistant for 12 years at Hillcrest Neighborhood Health under Family Practice Associates until she retired in 1996 due to progressive medical conditions.

She was a communicant of Zion Lutheran Church until she converted to Catholicism in 1996 and became a parishioner of the former Holy Family Church until its closing. She was a previous communicant of St. Charles and St. Joseph Parishes.

She loved flowers and gardening, enjoyed camping, swimming, her beloved friends and most of all, cherishing her son.

Mrs. Maffuccio is survived by her son, Christopher Maffuccio of Pittsfield; Three sisters, Kathy Harmon and husband David of Pittsfield, Michelle Scalise and husband Joe of Lanesboro, and Ulrike Ruger and husband Gunter of Bochum-Werne Germany; her brother, Brian Price and wife Lisa of Winter Park, FL; and Christopher’s Father, City Councilor Anthony V. Maffuccio as well as her beautiful Mother in-law, Mary C. Maffuccio. She also leaves her nieces and nephews, Matthew P., Cody and Hunter, TJ, Michael, Shaun, Ryan and Samantha, Matthew L., Jason, Joey, Katrina, Brandon, Haleigh, Zachary. Grandnieces and Nephews; Landon, Ryleigh, Derek, Sidney, Ava, Gavin, Dominic and Axton. As well as her aunt Claire Grady, Aunt Josie Rotti and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her father in-law, Dominic Maffuccio and her sister in-law and longtime caregiver, Maria Maffuccio Knights (Walt)

Laurie’s family would like to thank all of the medical personnel who cared for Laurie (and the family) throughout these past 26 years. We are forever grateful! Funeral Notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 12 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, celebrated by Rev. Peter A. Gregory. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be to Dery Funeral Home 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, or to her son, Christopher Maffuccio, 256 Robbins Ave, Pittsfield, to help defray costs.
