Obituary for Laura S. Kirchner

LAURA SCHULTZ KIRCHNER, 94, formerly of 600 Main Street, Dalton, died
Thursday, December 18, at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center where she had resided
since July 28, 2004. Prior to moving to Dalton in 1989, she had lived in Pittsfield
for many years.
Born in Pittsfield, January 31, 1914, a daughter of William N. and Lena Schultz
Newberry, she was educated in Pittsfield schools.
Mrs. Kirchner was employed by General Electric Company was a wire woman-assembler for 30 years retiring in 1974.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Pittsfield and a member
of the General Electric Quarter Century and Pensioners Clubs.
She enjoyed her grandchildren, exercising, bingo, crafts, knitting and crocheting,
and travel and entertainment.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Neil Abbott, and her second husband, Henry M. Kirchner.Mrs. Kirchner is survived by a son, William M. Abbott, and his wife, Theresa, of
Lenox; a stepson, Henry M. Kirchner of Adams; a stepdaughter, Joan Lovie of Marl-
borough, Massachusetts; a daughter-in-law, Chris Abbott of Adams; her eight beloved
grandchildren, Dawn Abbott Croll and her husband John, Paula Lee, David Kirchner, Shelley Abbott Polk and her husband Chris,
Norah Bresette, Cathy Avery, Jackie Krzanik, and Cathy Abbott; and twelve beloved
great grandchildren.
She was pre-deceased by a son, Theodore T. Abbott, who died in 1994, and four
sisters.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for LAURA SCHULTZ KIRCHNER, who died Thursday,
December 18, will be Tuesday, December 23, at 11:00 a.m., at DERY FUNERAL
HOME, with Rev. Dr. Luis E. Benavides, Pastor of First United Methodist Church,
officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday,
from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in
memory of Mrs. Kirchner may be made to First United Methodist Church, HospiceCare
in The Berkshires, or to the charity of one's choice, in care of the Funeral Home, 54
Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
