Obituary for Kris Don Sargent
Kris Don Sargent, 57 of Dalton, passed away May 6, 2023 at Craneville Place. He joins his mother Diane Shae McDonald, and his son Darrell Brunet. Kris was born in born in Pittsfield on July 7, 1965, where he grew up learning carpentry from his father, Harold “Butch” Sargent.
Kris loved being in nature, whether it be hunting with his brother Kevin Sargent, fishing, or searching cornfields for arrowheads with his children, and his dear friend Dave Starett. Kris amazed family and friends with his ability to spot and name any bird that crossed his path, and even had a pet duck, Frederica.
Kris used the carpentry skills he learned from his father and turned it a career, working for Richard Ames at Ames construction for 14 years, and working for his cousin Stu Sargent at Sargent construction. In addition to construct work, Kris worked for John Martino, building bulletproof glass for ships.
Kris is survived by his son, Leland Sargent of Hinsdale, daughter, Magen Sargent of NJ, and siblings, Kevin Sargent, Amanda Sargent, and Darrell Sargent, and stepmother Joy Sargent. He also leaves behind his nephews Shawn, Shane, Jordan, William, Wyatt, Logan, and Andrew, and his nieces Casey and Makayla. Kris was a proud member of the Sargent family, who he loved deeply.
A celebration of life will be held on June 18th from 1:00pm – 4:00pm at the Dalton American Legion. Donations may be made out to Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, to help the family defray costs.
