Obituary for Kerry L Couchman

Kerry L Couchman of Pittsfield, MA, passed away on November 21, 2022, at the age of 64, at Berkshire Medical Center, after a brief fight with cancer. He was born in Ilion, New York on January 17, 1958, to Lee and Margaret (West) Couchman, and raised in Richfield Springs, NY.

Kerry met Bonnie Jean Crowder at a Christian campus ministry, and they married on June 2nd, 1979. He loved hiking, fishing, fish-keeping, and outdoor photography. He earned his ham radio license in high school and is still contributing data to FlightAware. He played Portal 2 and enjoyed making puzzles for the game as Xy. He enjoyed preparing good food for those he loved.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from SUNY Albany and received his master’s degree in Computer Science from Union College, Schenectady, NY. Kerry was proud to be an Engineer at General Dynamics, contributing to the defense of his country. He was well respected and mentored many of his colleagues.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Couchman, son, Stephen Couchman, and daughter, Alethea Jean Couchman. He is also survived by his sister, Cynthia Lea (Couchman) Shoemaker-Hoffman, her husband Ronald Hoffman, his brother, Jon Kit Couchman, niece, Steffani Hope Shoemaker, nephews, Kenneth Lee (wife Jennifer), and Brendan Paul (wife Jennifer), great-nieces, Mirissa Llewellyn, Jennifer Webb, Emily, Abigail, Anna, Lianna, and Janice Couchman, great-nephew Evan Couchman, and some great-great-nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Dalton United Methodist Church on November 30th, at 3:00 PM. In leu of flowers, donations can be made to: Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry at DUMC, or the Housatonic Valley Association, Inc.
