Obituary for Kenneth Burton Streeter

Kenneth Burton Streeter, 97, of Dalton, MA, passed away July 30, 2021 at Craneville Place.
He was born in Pittsfield on July 9, 1924 a son of Guy B. and Edna M. Estes Streeter.

He attended Cummington Schools and was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. Mr. Streeter was a United States Army Veteran, having served during World War II, where he was a truck driver for a 40 mm anti-aircraft gun. He served in Normandy, France, Battle of the Bulge and Ardennes and Central Europe.
Kenneth married the former Rita F. Callahan on October 12, 1948 in Amherst, MA. She predeceased him on January 18, 2018.

Mr. Streeter worked as a construction worker for many years, having been employed by Peter Francese and Sons, as a carpenter and foreman, retiring in 1985. At one time he also had been employed by Emerson Construction Company. His expertise in the construction field can still be seen at the Dalton CRA, the Dalton VFW, and the Crane and Company Mills of Dalton.

A communicant of St. Agnes Church, he was a member of the Dalton American Legion, the Dalton VFW, and the Carpenters Union Local 108, where he was a member since 1951. He was an avid candlepin bowler for many years in a couple’s league with his wife Rita. He enjoyed local sports and was a huge fan of both the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He was passionate about his flower and vegetable gardens and family and friends alike would marvel and benefit from “Ken’s Potato Patch”.

Mr. Streeter is survived by his sons, Raymond K. Streeter and his wife Margaret of Arlington, TX, Allan F. Streeter and his wife Christine of Hampden, MA, Gerald G. Streeter of Virginia Beach, VA, and Kevin B. Streeter and his wife Michele of Pittsfield; daughter-in-law, Diane Streeter of Pittsfield; two brothers, Leland E. Streeter of Southwick, MA, and Vernon H. Streeter of Hinsdale, MA; and his twin sister, Kathryn (Streeter) Gero of Windsor, MA. Fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, Rita F. Streeter, he was predeceased by a son, Norman R. Streeter, a brother, Edward B. Streeter, and a daughter-in-law, Verna (Marlowe) Streeter.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 9, 2021 at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Church in Dalton, celebrated by Rev. Christopher Malatesta, Pastor. Burial will follow at Ashuelot Cemetery. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. at Dery-Foley Funeral Home, 890 E. Main St. Dalton. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society or to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of the funeral home.
