Obituary for Kenneth W. Greene

KENNETH W. GREENE, 86, formerly of 245 Cheshire Road, Pittsfield, and a long-time resident of Lanesborough, died Sunday morning at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility where he had resided since March 10, 2006.
Born in Tannersville, New York, May 25, 1920, the son of Samuel and Maude
McDaniel Greene, he was educated in Tannersville schools and was a 1939 graduate of Hunter-Tannersville Central High School in Tannersville, New York. A World War II veteran, he was a Chief Petty Officer in the United States
Navy from 1942 to 1946. He served in the Battle of Midway as well as aboard the aircraft carrier the USS Yorktowne.
Mr. Greene was employed as an assembler in the High Voltage Bushing Department of General Electric Company for 30 years retiring 1980.
He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Lanesborough, and a member of the General Electric Quarter Century and Pensioners Clubs. He enjoyed fishing, surf cast fishing in the ocean, and hunting, as well as reading, traveling, going to the beach, and following U-Conn Girls Basketball.
Mr. Greene leaves his wife, the former Irene G Ulrich, with whom he celebrated
their 64th wedding anniversary on November 28. They were married November 28,
1942, in Pittsfield. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Gary R. Greene of Pittsfield; two daughters,Barbara A. Kinnas of Lanesborough and Linda L. Durfee of Dalton; nine grandchildren
and nine great grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for KENNETH W. GREENE, who died Sunday, January 14th,
will be held Wednesday, January 17th, at 12:00 noon, at the DERY FUNERAL HOME,
Calling hours will precede from 11:00 to 12:00 at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Spring in Riverside Cemetery in Lanesboro. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr.Greene may be made to HospiceCare in The Berkshires in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield. Mr. Greene also leaves his sons-in-law, John W. Kinnas and Paul S. Durfee, his daughter-in-law, Carol J. Greene, and his nephew and wife, Paul and Sharon Lucas with whom he resided prior to going to Mount Greylock.
He was pre-deceased by his sister, Dorothy Lucas, late of Pittsfield.
