Obituary for Kathryn Elizabeth Haley

Kathryn Elizabeth Haley, 71 of Pittsfield, passed away September 17, 2022 at Baystate Medical Center.

Born in Pittsfield, MA on March 4, 1951, she was the daughter of Daniel and Winifred Huard Healy.

She was a 1970 graduate of Taconic High School, where she was a member of the first graduating class.

Kathryn married Richard Haley on April 11, 1981.

Mrs. Haley was a school bus driver for the City of Pittsfield.

Kathryn was an expert needleworker who loved making blankets, sweaters, socks and heirloom pieces for loved ones. She also enjoyed kayaking and going to the movies with her friends.

Recently retired, she treasured her career as school bus driver and especially loved dressing up on Halloween to drive the kids to school.

Her compassion and empathy were legendary and she was known to open her home to strangers. She loved her cats, always finding a way to take in just one more.

Her grandchildren were here pride and joy, she cherished her time with them all.

Kathryn was a force to be reckoned with. She had an endearing way of getting exactly what she wanted while at the same time being generous to a fault. The word 'no' was not in her vocabulary, however the words 'yes, dear' were a constant reply by her husband.

She was the family rock, a constant source of love and support. Her unexpected departure leaves a void which cannot be filled.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Haley of Pittsfield. Two daughters, Lisa Haley of Dunden, FL, and Danielle Knutson and husband Dan Roy of Cheshire. Two sons, Kristopher Knutson of Vermont, and Richard Haley III and wife Tracey of Dalton. Nine grandchildren, Christopher, Dillon, Quinlan, Makayla, Shayne, Devyn, Levi, Vaughn, and Kristopher. Two great-grandchildren, Ryleigh and Jaxon. As well as her siblings, Chris Healy, Dan Healy, Michael Pupo, Maureen Woodburn and Frances Raymond.

She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Deane.

Per her wishes there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA, to help the family offset expenses.
