Obituary for Karl Joseph Reed
Karl Joseph Reed, 25, of Pittsfield, MA passed away on September 11, 2023 while living in South Lake Tahoe, CA. Born on December 2, 1997, Karl was a beloved son of Lewis Reed Jr. and Patricia Lyon Reed. He is survived by his father, Lewis, and his mother, Patricia, as well as his grandfather, Lewis Reed Sr. His siblings: Eddie Casella, Melissa Casella Guinen (Alan), Ashley Reed, and Joshua Reed. Karl also leaves behind his nieces and nephews: Cierraa and Makenna Guinen, Blake and Dakota Casella, Greyson Reed, and Elizabeth Wulff. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Cheryl Reed, his grandparents, Eugene and Patricia Lyon, as well as the late Elaine Gaudette Lyon. Karl's family extends to a large network of aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom he loved very much.
Karl was known for his funny, outgoing, spontaneous, and loving nature. He had a passion for mechanics and worked at various mechanic shops throughout his career. He also worked at Sean Gannon Tree Service in California. In his free time, Karl enjoyed skateboarding, biking, fishing, and even “hunting kangaroos” with his Uncle Bob in the backyard (which they never did find).
A celebration of Karl's life will be held on October 15, 2023, at 1pm at the Dalton VFW. Family and friends are invited to join in remembering and honoring Karl's life. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Berkshire Coalition for Suicide Prevention, a cause that is now close to all our hearts. They may be mailed to Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
