Obituary for Karen Sue Ashbaugh-Piredda

Karen Sue Ashbaugh-Piredda 1947-2012, 65, of Pittsfield, beloved wife of Robert R. Piredda, passed away peacefully at their home on November 8th.
Karen was born in Lima, Ohio on June 1, 1947, the daughter of the late James E. & Melba C. (Young) Wolfe. She was a graduate of Wapakoneta Sr. High School in Wapakoneta, Ohio and moved to the Berkshires in 1997 to watch her grandchildren grow up.
Having various employers in her lifetime, the most significant was her administrative employment at Hospice Care in the Berkshires where she thoroughly enjoyed being part of a bigger cause.
Devoting her life to her family, Karen enjoyed her grandchildren and pets immensely. She was an avid reader and loved her flower gardens.
Karen is survived by her loving husband, Robert, married September 23, 2007, and her daughters, Anna M. (Watercutter) Maffett of Pittsfield, Rebecca L. (Watercutter) McFarland and Scott T. McFarland ("My favorite son-in-law; 'Cause he's my only son-in-law") of Great Barrington and Cathryn E. (Watercutter) Barnhill, also of Pittsfield. She leaves her precious, beloved grandchildren, Trevor and Adelaide McFarland and several furry grand-pets. In Ohio, remain two older sisters, Barbara Symonds and Kitty Boedicker, two dear sisters-in-law, Marlene Ashbaugh and Deborah McDermitt, and a brother-in-law, Todd (Karen) Ashbaugh and another sister-in-law, Antoinette Sicard, from Florida. Karen also leaves numerous treasured nieces and nephews along with the many, many lives she touched with her beautiful smile and laughter.
Karen was predeceased by her parents and her late husband, Alan D. Ashbaugh.



FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Karen Sue Ashbaugh-Piredda will be held Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Martin Memorial Chapel at Pittsfield Cemetery, 203 Wahconah Street, Pittsfield, MA conducted by the Rev. Rich Hayes, Chaplain at Hospice Care in the Berkshires. Calling hours will be held Thursday, prior to the service from 10 to 11 AM at the Martin Memorial Chapel at Pittsfield Cemetery. In honor of Karen, casual dress (jeans) will be observed. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Karen's name to Hospice Care in the Berkshires or the Berkshire County Humane Society both in care of the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201 which is in charge of arrangements..
