Obituary for Julie P. Gundelfinger

Julie Pete Gundelfinger, 81, of Lenox, MA, passed away January 23, 2017, at home. Born in San Francisco, California, on February 14, 1935, she was the daughter of Pete Stavros and Cula (Vourtsianis) Stavros.Julie attended schools in Sparks, Nevada, graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno, and loved teaching at the Stewart Indian School in Carson City, NV. She married Hugo Gundelfinger and moved to western Massachusetts where she worked for Berkshire Community College and Lee VNA.Julie was happiest when she was with her family and good friends. She enjoyed preparing delicious holiday feasts, pool parties and summer barbeques, travel, dancing, reading, needlework, and daily visits with her close friend, Mary Ellen Hines. Julie was an active member of the St. George Greek Orthodox community. She had a great sense of humor and a big heart. Julie was a devoted wife and mother, and a good friend to all - ready to lend a hand, lend an ear, and pull up an extra chair at the table. Julie was pre-deceased by her husband of 45 years, Hugo E. Gundelfinger, who passed away on May 27, 2004. Survivors include her son, Peter Gundelfinger and his wife Suzanne Smiley of Gill, MA; son, Eric Gundelfinger of Leesburg, Virginia; daughter, Katherine Gundelfinger of Pittsfield, MA; and grandchildren Jonathan Snow, John Gundelfinger, and Hugo Pizarro-Gundelfinger.

SERVICES: A Funeral Service will be held on January 28, 2017, at 2 PM at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 73 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA.
