Obituary for Julia K. Mercaldo

Julia K. Mercaldo left us to be with the Lord on September 2, 2016, at Henry Ford in West Bloomfield, Michigan.
Julia graduated Salutatorian 1982 Pontiac High School in Pontiac, Michigan. She lived in New York for seven years.
She was an employee of Muskgroves, Elmvale Worsted, and retired from Pittsfield School
Department.
She was married in October of 1936.
After marriage, she worked in a New York candy factory and in the garment industry at
McGregor's Vest & Coats. Julia was also an Avon representative for 20 years and received many awards.
Julia loved to travel, cook, entertain family and friends, and gardening. She was a very
Creative knitter and she was always willing to help people in need. Julie was one of the founding members of Christian Assembly Church until she moved to Michigan in 1975.
Julia was the daughter of Guiseppe Frieri and Rosina Occhicone Frieri, was the loving wife of the late Antonio Mercaldo (1974), sister to Rose (1910), who only lived four days,
Antoinette Meyerhoff (2001) and Mary Jaworski (2012).
She is survived by one sister, Helen Stroup, and one brother, Ralph Frieri.
She was the dearest mother of David Joseph Mercaldo and his wife, Ann, who lives in
Idaho, and Nancy VanWagner, who lives in Michigan.
Julia was the greatest grandmother to Anthony Van Wagner who lives in Minnesota, Joshua Mercaldo and his wife who live in Boise, Idaho, and Nathaniel Mercaldo and his wife,
Sarah, who live in Nashville, Tennessee.
She was a loving great grandmother to Isabella Athena Mercaldo and Nicco Mercaldo who live in Boise, Idaho.
Julia was a loving aunt to Juliann Gian (Dalton, Mass.), Ruth Keschinger (Arizona),
Deborah Deforest (Pittsfield, Mass.), Dennis Frieri (Adams, Mass.), Steve Frieri (Adams, Mass.),
Robert Stroup and Robert Meyerhoff (deceased), and a great aunt to Krystle Frieri and her children, Ian and Aira, Tristen and Travis Frieri, and John and Alex Deforest.
Julia has many nieces and nephews still living in New York and Pennsylvania.
Julia also has cousins in Connecticut and California, The Geralda and Raffaele Loungo
family and the Sam Loung family.
July was a friend to many, including Bob Carey, Christina, Sarah, Nathan, and Daniel
Carey.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for Julia K. Mercaldo will be held Wednesday, September 14, at 9:00
a.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield with Rev. David McIntosh, Pastor of Christian Assembly Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital
or to Delmarva Teen Challenge of Delaware.
