Obituary for Julia LoCascio Cary

Julia LoCascio Cary, of Port Saint Lucie, FL and formerly of Pittsfield, MA, passed away December 25, 2016.
Born in Swoyersville, PA, June 28, 1916, the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Mary LoCascio, she moved to Pittsfield at the age of four. She was educated in local schools and was later employed at the Pajama Factory and the General Electric Corporation for fifteen years as a secretary. She was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Pittsfield. She met and worked with her husband, Leroy B. Cary, of North Adams, MA for several years and married him on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 1959. She left Pittsfield, in 1963, upon her husband's transfer to Huntsville, AL, to work on the Apollo Lunar Landing Program. She then moved to Cocoa Beach, FL, upon her husband's transfer. In 1969, she was invited to sit in the VIP stands to view the launch of the moon rocket. She subsequently resided for several years in Woodbridge, IL, and later in Louisville, KY. When her husband retired, they moved to Port Saint Lucie, FL.
Julia enjoyed her role as a homemaker, cooking and sewing. Crocheting was of particular interest, which she did for hours on end. She was an avid bowler all her adult life and belonged to bowling leagues everywhere she lived. Her bowling exploits even made the local newspaper at the age of 95!
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy B. Ingram and two grandchildren, Emily Bennett (Kennesaw, GA) and Elizabeth Draganova (Malden, MS). She also had an adopted son, Harold R. Cary, a grandson, Nicholas Cary (Cocoa Beach, FL), and a granddaughter, Sarah Cary Baker (Indianapolis, IN). Other family surviving are her sisters, Jennie Ramsey, Francis Martin, and Josephine Pigott, all of Pittsfield, MA. She was predeceased by her parents, and sisters, Augustine Praise, also of Pittsfield, and Anne Geary of Cheshire, MA.
