Obituary for Joyce L. Secord

JOYCE L. SECORD, 68, of 8 Lakewood Circle, Pittsfield, died Tuesday morning at her home.
Born in Pittsfield, January 13, 1938, the daughter of Andrew and Anna Cardin
Barber, she was educated in Pittsfield schools.
Mrs. Secord was last employed as a housekeeper for Kimball Farms on Walker Street, Lenox, where she worked for eight years retiring in 2001. Previously, she had worked nine years for Shaffer Eaton in its Envelope Department.She was a communicant of St. Charles Church. She enjoyed walking.Her first husband, Robert Dence, whom she married in 1961, died March 15,
1994. Her second husband, Donald F. Secord, whom she married in 1979, died March 17, 1995.
Mrs. Secord is survived by two daughters, Roberta A. Dence and Melissa L. Ahlen, both of Pittsfield; two brothers, Walter Barber and Eugene Barber, both of Pittsfield; four sisters, Lillian Larder of Thomsonville, Georgia, Jean Barber of Pittsfield, Irene Barna of Ludlow, and Clara Ostrander of Lanesborough; and two
grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE: JOYCE L. SECORD, who died on Tuesday, June 6, surrounded by her
loving family, also leaves her son-in-law, William A. Ahlen; two grandchildren,
ShaunRobert Burbank and William M. Ahlen; her friend, Harriet, at Kimball Farms, with whom she enjoyed spending time and will be dearly missed,
and her dearly loved cat, Buddy. She was pre-deceased by a granddaughter,
Brandi-Lyn Dence who died in 1989; two brothers, George Barber and Andrew
Barber; and two sisters, Ann Rice and Gloria Barber. Funeral services for Mrs. Secord will be held Friday, June 9, at 9:15 a.m. from
DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., at St. Charles Church, celebrated by Rev. Peter A. Gregory, Pastor. Burial will follow in St.Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Secord may be
made to the American Cancer Society or to Berkshire Humane Society in care of
The Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
