Obituary for Josephine "Dodie" Majchrowski

Josephine "Dodie" Majchrowski, 97, of Pittsfield, died Friday, March 7, 2014, surrounded by her loving family at her home.
Born in Housatonic on February 26, 1917, the daughter of Albert and Marciana Jarosz Meloveck,
she was a graduate of Stockbridge schools.
Josie was a homemaker. At one time, she was a bookkeeper for General Electric
Company.
Josie was a communicant of St. Joseph Church. She had been a communicant of
Holy Family Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality and Mother's Guild.
She volunteered her time with Elder Services of Berkshire County making home visits to the
elderly.
Dodie was a kind and generous person whose greatest joy was the many things she could do for
her friends and family. She enjoyed gardening and cooking, playing solitaire and reading, and traveling to California and Florida with her husband, daughters, and son-in-law.
Her husband, John S. Majchrowski, whom she married July 19, 1941, in Holy Family Church,
died April 24, 2010.
Mrs. Majchrowski is survived by two daughters, Helen J. Majchrowski of Pittsfield, with whom
she made her home, and Carol A. Andrus and her husband, Henry, of Dalton; a granddaughter, Barbara
van Dyke and her husband, John, of Lakeville, Minnesota, and three great grandsons; a brother, Henry Meloveck of Pittsfield; as well as her caregiver, Dianna Preston whom she was very fond of, and many nieces and nephews; and her beloved pets, Roo, Emma Jean, Lucas, Sydney, and Luckee.
She was pre-deceased by four brothers, Frank, Joseph, Peter, and John Meloveck; and three
sisters, Stella and Mary Meloveck, and Caroline Quaglietti.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for Josephine "Dodie" Majchrowski will be held Tuesday, March 11, at 8:15 a.m., from DERY FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m., at St. Joseph Church
celebrated by Rev. Msgr. Michael A. Shershanovich, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Eleanor
Sonsini Animal Shelter in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street.
