Obituary for Joseph E. Paradis

JOSEPH EDMOND PARADIS, 79, of 405 Pittsfield Road, Lenox, a longtime resident of Lenox, prior to which he had lived in Williamstown, died Tuesday, December 1, at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Montague, Massachusetts, June 13, 1930, a son of Philip J. and Marie Castonguay Paradis, he was educated in Greenfield schools.
A Korean War veteran, he served with the United States Army from 1951 to
1953. He received the bronze service stars, as well as the Korean Service Medal, United States Service Medal, National Service Medal.
Mr. Paradis was employed by General Electric Company where he was tool maker in its Ordnance Department. He retired in 1989 with 38 years service. He was also the owner-operator of the former Paradis Radiator Repair Shop in
North Adams.
Mr. Paradis was a member of Christian Assembly Church. He was also a
member of the General Electric Company Quarter Century and Pensioners clubs. He had been a fireman with the Lenox Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid New England Patriots fan who enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting events, as well.
He also enjoyed summering in Rhode Island, fishing, camping, and country
music. Mr. Paradis leaves his wife, the former Rita Stockley, whom he married
December 17, 1983.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Susan M. Andreski and her
husband, Raymond, of Holiday, Florida, Laurie J. Simon and her husband, Keith, of
North Adams, and Karen P. Jolin and her husband, Gary, of Williamstown; three
stepsons, Michael W. Groat and his wife, Sheila, of Pittsfield, Walter J. Groat and
his wife, Tina, of Pittsfield, and Mark A. Groat and his wife, Robin, of New Ashford;
two sisters, Annabelle Lucas and her husband, Ernest, of Millers Falls, Massachusetts,
Rose Marie Stieha and her husband, Kenneth, of Carson City, Nevada; a brother, Rene
Paradis of Melbourne Beach, Florida; and five grandchildren, Kyle Jolin, Kristopher
Jolin, Mariah Groat, Marc Simon, and Jill Simon, and two great grandchildren, Kaili
Bullett and Izabella LeFavbre.
He was pre-deceased by a brother and a sister.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for JOSEPH EDMOND PARADIS will be Friday, December
4, at 1:00 p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Howard S. Ryan, Senior
Minister of Christian Assembly Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain
View Cemetery in Lenox. Calling hours will be on Friday beginning at 12:00 noon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice in
care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
