Obituary for Joseph P. Langlais

JOSEPH PATRICK LANGLAIS, 42, of 96 East Main Road, Peru, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011.
Born in Pittsfield on November 25. 1968, a son of Raymond and Ann Dugan Langlais of Pittsfield, he was a 1987 graduate of St. Joseph Central High School where he was a Captain of the Golf Team and Goalie for the Hockey Team. He continued his education at Berkshire Community College and then graduated cum laude from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where he earned a bachelor of arts degree. At the time of his death, Mr. Langlais was the proprietor of Joe's Diner in Lee
which he had owned and operated since 2001.
Prior to that, Mr. Langlais had been Produce Manager at Guidos, a line cook at Mazzeo's, worked at Joe's Place in North Adams; and from 1999 to 2001 at one time he owned Joe's Lunch Box in Pittsfield. He also did catering services. He enjoyed sports, was a New York Yankees and Giants fan, and an avid golfer.
He also enjoyed reading.
Mr. Langlais leaves his wife, the former Pamela Kittle, whom he married June
4, 1993. Besides his wife and his parents, he leaves a son, John A. Langlais of Peru and
a stepson, Thomas Dougherty of Louisville, Kentucky; two brothers, Michael Langlais and his wife, Anne, of Lee, and Peter Langlais and his wife, Susan of Lakeville,
Ma.; two sisters, Mary Jean Broderman and her husband, Louis of Willmington, Ma. and Ann Allen and her husband, Bruce, of Chan Hassen, Minn.;
as well as his in-laws, Charles and Suzanne Kittle of Pittsfield, many nieces and
nephews, and aunts, uncles, and cousins. All of Joey's family remember him as all
heart and soul.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for JOSEPH PATRICK LANGLAIS will be held Monday,
April 4, at 10:00 from DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in Dalton with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church celebrated by Rev. James K. Joyce, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Langlais may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to Sacred Heart Church, both in care of the Funeral Home, 890 East Main Street, Dalton.
