Obituary for Joseph H. Fortini Sr.

Mr. Joseph Henry Fortini, Sr. 72, of 4693 Orange Grove Blvd. North Fort Myers, Florida died Tuesday, August 1st, 2006 at Southwest Regional Hospital in Fort Myers, Florida after a long illness. Prior to moving to North Fort Myers, Florida 35 years ago he was a longtime Pittsfield, Ma. resident. Born on June 5, 1934 in Pittsfield, Ma. a son of the late Joseph J. and Marie Eva Baribeau Fortini. He attended schools in Pittsfield and had served in the United States Air Force. While in Florida he was a supervisor at Ohio Medical Products in Tice, Florida from 1972 until his retirement in 1977 due to ill health. While in Pittsfield he worked as a supervisor for the former Elmvale Worsted Company from 1961 until 1969. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 10127, a member of the Fraternal Order of eagles Nest 4270, a lifetime member of Am Vets Post 81 where he served as past commander for two years, a member of American Legion Post 336 all of which are located in North Fort Myers, Florida. He was a communicant of Saint Francis Xavier Church in Ft. Myers, Florida and while in Pittsfield a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. He is survived by his wife the former Dolores A. Parzick whom he married at Holy Family Church in Pittsfield on June 1, 1957. Besides his wife he leaves four sons, James J. Fortini of Lusby, Maryland, John S. Fortini of North Ft. Myers, Florida, Joseph H. Fortini, Jr. and Stephen A. Fortini both of Cape Coral, Florida. Two daughters, Linda M. Mandich of Cape Coral, Florida and Kathy M. Fortini-Carroll of Cape Coral, Florida. He also leaves 13 Grandchildren.

Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Joseph H. Fortini, Sr. who died August 1, 2006 will be held Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, Ma. followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at All Souls Church, celebrated by the Rev. Paul Burns, CSS. Burial will follow at Saint Joseph's Cemetery with full military honors. Calling hours at Dery Funeral Home will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials in his memory may be made to Hope Hospice of North Fort Myers, Florida in care of the funeral home. Mr. Fortini is survived by his 13 beloved grandchildren, Michelle, Kristen and Lori Mandich, Nathalie and Brittney Fortini, Makalyn Schuck, Michael and Brayden Fortini, Cody Carroll, Colton, Ethan and Tre Fortini and John Michael Fortini. Also survived by two daughters in law, Brooke and Tiffany Fortini and son in law, Michael Mandich, Also survived by several nieces and nephews, he was predeceased by two brothers, Ernest and Robert Fortini.
