Obituary for Joseph J. Castronova

JOSEPH JOHN CASTRONOVA, 79, of 45 Revilla Terrace, Pittsfield,
died Wednesday, July 2, at Hillcrest Commons.
Born in Pittsfield, July 29, 1928, a son of Anthony Castronova, Sr., and
Angeline Monteleone Castronova, he was educated in Pittsfield schools.
A Korean War veteran, he served in the United States Army from December 1950
to March 1957, with tours of duty in Germany and France. Mr. Castronova was employed by General Electric Company where he worked
as an Assembler for 40 years.
He was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. He was a member of the General Electric Quarter Century and Pensioners Clubs. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and doing crossword puzzles.
Mr. Castronova leaves a brother, Anthony Castronova, Jr., of Pittsfield, a sister,
Jean E. Salzarulo of Pittsfield; 39 nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and
great great nieces and nephews, as well as many dear friends and neighbors, and his cat,
Codie Boy. He was pre-deceased by another sister, Carolyn Lingoski.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for JOSEPH JOHN CASTRONOVA, who died July 2, will be
Thursday, July 3, at 1:00 p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME, with Rev. Msgr. Michael A.
Shershanovich, Pastor of St. Joseph Church, officiating. Burial will follow in St.
Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service beginning at 12:00 noon. In
lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Castronova may be made to HospiceCare
in The Berkshires or to St. Joseph Church Food Pantry both in care of the Funeral Home,
54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
