Obituary for Joseph M. Blair

Mr. Joseph M. Blair, 68, of 201 Mohegan Street, Pittsfield died Sunday morning at home. Born on June 17, 1938 in Pittsfield, MA he was a son of the late Milton and Elizabeth Russell Blair. A longtime resident of Pittsfield, he was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1956 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He served at one time as a United States Coast Guard Reservist. He was associated in sales for many years with Borden's, Gerber Baby Foods and Durkee Foods all along the east coast. He had also worked as a part time bus driver for Dufour Tours in the late 90's. He retired in 1995 due to ill health. He was a communicant of St. Mark Church. He was also a member of the Berkshire County Harley Owner's Group (HOG). He enjoyed motorcycling with his wife and playing golf. He leaves his wife, the former Jennie A. Kinnas of Pittsfield whom he married on March 26, 1960 in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Church in Pittsfield. Three sons, Joseph P. Blair, and Michael J. Blair both of Pittsfield and Jeffrey T. Blair of Assonet, MA. A brother, Thomas Blair of New Kent, Virginia and two sisters, Margaret Brickle of Hinsdale and Judith Taylor of Pittsfield, MA. He also leaves his four grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Jennifer A. Blair who died in 1965.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Joseph M. Blair, 68, of Pittsfield who died October 1, 2006 will be held on Wednesday at 9:15 AM from the DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Mark Church celebrated by the Rev. John Salatino, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours for Mr. Blair will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM at the Dery Funeral Home. He also leaves his four grandchildren, Stacy, Zachary, Jessica and Sarah Blair and his three daughters-in-law, Kathleen, Marie and Michelle Blair. He was predeceased by his daughter, the late Jennifer A. Blair who died in 1965 and by a brother, Russell Blair, late of Pittsfield. Memorial donations in memory of Mr. Blair may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
