Obituary for John Wnukowski

John Wnukowski, 80, of Pittsfield, passed away at home on Friday, December 13, 2013.
John, a native of Windsor, was born on April 7, 1933 in Adams, MA the son of the late Stanley and Sophia Bator Wnukowski. He was educated in Dalton schools and was a 1951 graduate of the former Dalton High School. After graduation he served in the United Sates Navy as an aviation electronics technician during the Korean War Conflict. John was a master carpenter and cabinet maker for over sixty years who worked for several local contractors before accepting a position with Berkshire Medical Center as a maintenance supervisor. He retired from BMC in 1988 after twenty years of service. He was an accomplished musician, playing drums with many local musicians throughout his adult life. John was dedicated to his family. He enjoyed his work and looked at his carpentry as a hobby. He leaves his wife, the former Joan Kelly of Pittsfield whom he married on May 1, 1954 at St. Agnes Church in Dalton. Two sons; Kevin Wnukowski and his wife Diane of Pittsfield and Glenn Wnukowski and his life partner, Robert Zaniboni of Hinsdale. A sister; Helen Belot of Connecticut as well as his beloved grandchildren; Bridget Wnukowski of Dalton and Shane Wnukowski of Pittsfield. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother; the late Paul Wnukowski who died this past November.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for John Wnukowski of Pittsfield who died December 13, 2013 will be private at his request. There are no calling hours. Following cremation, burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in memory of John may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital in care of the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201 which is in charge of arra
