Obituary for John Rodick

JOHN RODICK, 62, of 31 Westwood Road, Pittsfield, died Saturday, December
13, at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, surrounded by his family.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, October 1, 1946, he was a 1964 graduate of Uniondale (New York) High School and attended Yankton College in South Dakota where he played baseball and football He continued his education at Berkshire
Community College from where he earned an associate's degree in fire science in 1977.
A VietNam War era veteran, he served with the United States Marine Corps February 4, 1966, was promoted to Sergeant in September 1969, and was honorably discharged on February 3, 1970.
Mr. Rodick was employed as a firefighter with the Pittsfield Fire Department from November 1, 1970 to December 6, 1997.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church and was a former communicant of
Holy Family Church.
He was a member of the Local 2647 of the International Association of Fire-
fighters and a member of the Pittsfield Permanent Firemen's Benefit Association.
He was a New York Yankees fan who also enjoyed bowling and fishing, as well
as spending time with his family and friends.
Mr. Rodick leaves his wife, the former Christine A. Duprey, whom he married
May 24, 1969, at the former St. Mary the Morning Star Church in Pittsfield.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, John C. Rodick and his wife,
Melissa, of Pittsfield; and Adam J. Rodick of Pittsfield; two daughters, Andrea T. Werth
and her husband, Lawrence, of Cheshire; and Kristy A. Gundlach and her husband,
Matthew of Pittsfield; a brother, Thomas Rodick of Las Vegas, Nevada; and five grand-
Children, Thomas, Skylar, Josh, Aaron, and Brandon.
He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Robert Rodick and James Rodick, and two
sisters, Carolyn Paul and Stephanie McInnis.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for JOHN RODICK, who died Saturday, December 13, will be
Thursday, December 18, at 8:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of
Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m., at St. Joseph Church, celebrated by Rev. Msgr. Michael A.
Shershanovich, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will
be Wednesday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers,
contributions in memory of Mr. Rodick may be made to the Eleanor Sonsini Animal
Shelter or to the Muscular Dystrophy Association in care of the Funeral Home, 54
Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
