Obituary for John H. King

JOHN HOWARD KING, 92, of 44 Ann's Lane, Hampton, NH formerly of Pittsfield, MA, died Friday, March 10, 2017 at Portsmouth (NH) Regional Hospital after living for several years with his daughter, Barbara, and her family.
Born in Pittsfield, November 2, 1924, the son of Howard J. King and Laura Barnes Chase Hoag King. He was a graduate of Pittsfield High School.
A World War ll veteran, Mr. King served as a Private First Class in the United States Army from 1943 – 1947. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal.
Mr. King was employed as an International Representative for the United Paperworkers International Union for 30 years from where he retired in 1993. Prior to that, he had worked for the former Eaton Paper Company for 15 years.
While in Pittsfield, he was a communicant of St. Charles Church and enjoyed going out to eat with his family, going to the movies and especially going to Foxwoods with his grandson.
He was an avid fan of the Red Sox and Patriots. He was also member of American Legion Post 68 and the Elks Club.
His wife, the former Viola L. Miller, whom he was married for 55 years, died July 20.2005.
Mr. King is survived by a son, Alan John King of Nashua, NH, two daughters, Susan Lorraine Jarvis of Allenstown, NH and Barbara Ann King of Hampton, NH. Besides his children he also leaves six grandchildren, Brad John Chandler, Laura Lorraine Foster, Julia Harmony Lefebvre, Natasha Ann Kenny, Delaina Erin McCarthy, Seana Ann McCarthy, and three great grandchildren, Sienna Lefebvre, Piper Kenny and one on its way.
He was pre-deceased by brothers, William "Ray" Hoag, Kenneth V. Hoag, Harold J. King, George T. King, and Donald R. King, and his sister, Helen B. Russo.

Funeral services for JOHN HOWARD KING will be held Monday, March 20th at 12:00 Noon, at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA, with Rev. Peter A. Gregory, Pastor of St. Charles Church, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday, March 19th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. King may be made to Seaside Elderly Day Out Center, Hampton, NH in care of the Funeral Home.
